Bridge Rehabilitation Projects - Overview

Project Limits:
Rail bridges along the corridor through San Francisco, San Mateo and Santa Clara counties (See Individual Projects for more details)

Construction Cost:
$115 million (estimated)

Begin Construction:
2005 – The first bridge project began in Oct. 2005

End Construction:
2010 – The various bridge projects will be completed at different times, with the final project scheduled for completion in this year.

Reason for Project:
This project is necessary to upgrade bridges, which have deteriorated with time and regular use.

Scope of Work:
Each bridge has specific requirements, however, a general review of the scope of work that will be done during this project includes:

• Replacing whole existing bridges
• Replacing bridge decks
• Reinforcing bridges to meet seismic standards
