Caltrain To Shift Southbound Boarding At Burlingame Station

As part of the Burlingame station improvement project, Caltrain will temporarily close off the southbound platform in front of the historic station depot, effective Friday, Jan. 18. Southbound passengers will board just north of the current southbound platform, across North Lane, behind Royal Donuts. Conductors and station signage will inform customers about this change in boarding areas.

This temporary boarding area change will last approximately four to six weeks, while construction crews use heavy equipment to install a new drainage system in the current southbound boarding area. The area in front of the station will be reopened for public use when this part of the project is complete.

Train service will not be interrupted during the project and tickets will continue to be sold at the Ticket Vending Machines under the awning of the depot building.

The year-long project, which will wrap up this summer, is designed to improve safety and train movement at the Burlingame station. The center platform will be eliminated and new outside boarding platforms will be built with a fence running between the tracks, preventing trespassers from walking across the tracks.
