Weekend Closure of Bayswater Avenue For Caltrain Construction

The railroad grade crossing at Bayswater Avenue in Burlingame will be temporarily closed from Friday, Dec. 14 to Monday, Dec. 17, as part of the year-long project to reconstruct the Burlingame Caltrain station platforms.

Construction crews will close the northbound track in order to install new concrete pads and to replace worn rails, ties and ballast. Work will take place around the clock from approximately 8 p.m. Friday and continue until about 5 a.m. Monday, when the track will be reopened for regular weekday train service.

During the weekend construction, motorists and pedestrians will detour around the closure by using Howard Avenue or Peninsula Avenue.

Impact to Weekend Train Service
There will be no delays in service due to the construction, however, from Friday evening through Sunday evening, all trains will operate in both directions on a single track in the construction area. As a result, passengers waiting for both northbound and southbound trains at the Burlingame and San Mateo stations will board from the southbound platform. Announcements about this will be made by conductors on board trains and at stations.

Impact to Neighbors
Neighbors may hear construction noise from equipment. Two portable light towers, powered by a diesel generator, will be used for night work as well. The contractor will control dust with a water truck. Construction crews will make efforts to work as quickly and quietly as possible to minimize any disturbance to neighbors.
