Caltrain Seeks Input for Proposed New Schedule with 98 Trains
Caltrain is requesting public input on a proposed new timetable, which would add two trains during weekday evenings, one northbound and one southbound. If the board approves the new timetable at its December meeting, it will go into effect Monday, March 3, 2008.
“We continue in our efforts to improve and increase our service,” said Caltrain chair José Cisneros. “We know that the community and our customers want more trains more often, and we are making every effort to provide that with the limited resources we have at our disposal. This is just the beginning of our plans to increase and improve service on Caltrain over coming years.”
According to the proposed new timetable, scheduled departures for trains leaving after 7 p.m. will be adjusted by up to 30 minutes to accommodate the additional trains. Northbound after train 189, which leaves San Jose Diridon at 6:50 p.m., trains would depart every hour on the half-hour from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Southbound, after train 288, which leaves San Francisco at 6:56 p.m., trains would depart every hour on the half-hour from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The final southbound train will still depart from San Francisco at 12:01 a.m. The proposed new timetable can be viewed online at www.caltrain.com/timetable.
Caltrain will hold three drop-in sessions on Tuesday, Nov. 27, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. Members of the public are invited to attend and hear to provide information on the proposed timetable change and receive public input. The meetings will be held at:

Caltrain Administrative Offices
1250 San Carlos Ave., San Carlos
San Jose Diridon Station
65 Cahill St., San Jose
Individuals who cannot attend the meetings but who would like to provide comment can do so by emailing caltraincomments@caltrain.com.
