Caltrain Receives Top Federal Award for Attracting Ridership
Federal Transit Administrator James S. Simpson
presented the “Success in Enhancing Ridership
Award” to Caltrain on Monday, March 12,
for its nearly 23 percent ridership growth between
June 2004 and June 2005.
The award was based not only on ridership growth
numbers but also for having done so in a way that
can be emulated by other transit systems around
the nation.
Caltrain was among three awardees in the
category of transit systems located in an area
with a population of more than one million residents.
