Caltrain In The Driver's Seat To San Jose Grand Prix
Race fans can stay on the sidelines when it comes to
traffic and parking hassles by letting Caltrain show them
the way to San Jose for the Grand Prix race July 28-30.
Caltrain offers frequent regular service to San Jose on
Friday, July 28, and is augmenting weekend service on
Saturday, July 29, and Sunday, July 30, with four additional
trains each day.
On Saturday and Sunday, special limited-stop trains will
leave San Francisco at 7:45 a.m. and 9:45 a.m., arriving
at the San Jose Diridon Station at 8:55 a.m. and 10:55 a.m.,
respectively.
These trains will stop at nine Caltrain stations: San Bruno,
Millbrae, San Mateo, Hillsdale, Redwood City, Palo Alto,
Mountain View, Sunnyvale and Santa Clara.
For the return trip Saturday, extra local trains will leave the
Diridon station at 4:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., and arrive in
San Francisco approximately 90 minutes later. On Sunday,
extra northbound local trains will leave San Jose at 3:30 p.m.
and 5:30 p.m., and arrive in San Francisco about 90 minutes later.
These trains will make all regular local stops both weekend days.
Caltrain is a Proof-of-Payment system, requiring all passengers
to have valid fare media before boarding the train. Caltrain sells
One-way, Day Pass, or 10-ride tickets through machines at all stations.
The 10-ride ticket is a great bargain for families and groups of
friends heading to the race because one ticket may be used by
all members of the traveling party, providing they don't exceed the
10-ride limit. Passengers are required to validate all 10-ride tickets
before boarding. Monthly pass holders ride free through all zones
on weekends, and those with a two-zone or greater monthly pass
will receive a local fare credit on VTA buses and light rail.
