Caltrain to make temporary adjustment to weekend schedule

Caltrain crews will work through two upcoming weekends, May 19 to 22 and June 2 to 5, in order to install a new steel deck on a small bridge in Redwood City. The work will impact the weekend train schedule and traffic in the neighborhood around the bridge.

On Saturday and Sunday of these two weekends, the southbound train schedule will be adjusted to depart 10 minutes later than currently scheduled.

Beginning at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and continuing through the weekend until the last train on Sunday night, trains will single-track through the Belmont, San Carlos and Redwood City stations. Signs in the stations as well as audio and visual announcements will direct riders to the correct platform.

During the two 55-hour work weekends, Maple Street will be closed at the railroad tracks. Signs will direct traffic and pedestrians to a detour around the construction area.

The work is the final stage of a project to upgrade a railroad bridge that crosses Redwood Creek at Maple Street in Redwood City. Crews have been working on the bridge since the end of March to replace the bridge supports. The bridge was built in 1906 and has reached the end of its useful life.
