Caltrain to Announce Love Poetry Contest WInners
WHO:
Board Chairman Ken Yeager will announce the three winners of
Caltrain’s first love poetry contest during the rail agency’s monthly board meeting.
WHEN:
10 a.m., Thursday, March 2
WHERE:
San Mateo County Transit District administrative offices, second floor
auditorium, 1250 San Carlos Ave., San Carlos.
WHAT:
Caltrain invited passengers and the public alike to
enter a contest
to honor the best love poetry about Caltrain. The contest was
open to any and all variations on the theme of love and Caltrain, in
any poetic form or style, limited to a maximum of 100 words. More than 300 poems were entered.
Judges:
Poet Cathy Barber, who teaches with the California Poets
in the Schools program in San Mateo County
Rosemarie Perez, reading/language arts coordinator for
curriculum services for the San Mateo County Office of Education
Financial consultant and Caltrain Citizens Advisory Committee
chair Sepi Richardson, who also serves on the Brisbane City Council
Prizes:
First prize is a two-night stay at the Pan Pacific Hotel in San Francisco, courtesy of the hotel
Second prize is two Gourmet Express five-course dinners on the Napa Valley Wine Train, donated by the Wine Train
Third prize is a Hornblower dinner cruise for two, courtesy of Hornblower Cruises & Events
