Caltrain Ready to Roll for Sharks Fans
Along with the San Jose Sharks, Caltrain is on track for the 2005-06 hockey season.
Caltrain will provide service to all Sharks home
games at HP Pavilion, beginning with the preseason opener against the Los Angeles Kings
on Sunday, Sept. 18. Prior to that face-off, fans will be treated to a “Future Sharks
vs. Future Kings” contest that begins at 2:00 p.m.
The Sharks will play their regular season home-opener on Oct. 12 against the Columbus
Blue Jackets.
With its San Jose terminal located across the street from the hockey arena, Caltrain
makes it easy to avoid the hassle and expense of driving and parking.
A number of trains arrive from San Francisco and the Peninsula before face-off. The
last weekday and Saturday northbound train departs the San Jose station at 10:30 p.m. or
15 minutes after the game ends, whichever is later. The train makes all regular local
stops. Trains will stop at the Broadway and Atherton stations on weekends only.
Information about Caltrain hockey service is available in a new brochure, which will
soon be onboard trains. Riders also can request a copy by calling Caltrain’s Customer
Service Center at 1.800.660.4287.
Caltrain is a Proof-of-Payment system, requiring all passengers to have valid fare media
before boarding the train. Caltrain sells tickets through machines at all stations,
with the exception of College Park.
Passengers may purchase One-way, Day Pass, or 10-ride tickets. Passengers are required
to validate all 10-ride tickets before boarding. Monthly Pass holders ride free through
all zones on weekends.
