Caltrain Takes Football Fans to Shrine Game on Jan. 15
Peninsula football fans going to the East West Shrine Game at SBC Park on Jan. 15
can avoid traffic and parking hassles by taking Caltrain. The San Francisco Caltrain
Station is one block from the stadium.
An annual event since 1925, the game raises money and public awareness for 22 Shriners
Hospitals for Children.
This year, the West Team features three members of the No. 5 California Golden Bears
including Bay Area native Lorenzo Alexander; J.J. Arrington, the second leading rusher
in the nation; and Geoff McArthur, one of the nation's top receivers and a leading
All-American candidate.
Caltrain’s regular weekend service includes trains arriving at the San Francisco
station at 9:36 a.m. and 10:36 a.m., in plenty of time for the 11 a.m. kickoff. After
the game, Caltrain offers departures from San Francisco every hour on the hour.
Caltrain is a tri-county partnership of San Francisco Municipal Railway, San Mateo
County Transit District and Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority. Caltrain
operates 86 weekday trains between San Francisco and San Jose, with commute-hour
service to Gilroy. A total of 62 trains offer service on weekends.
