Caltrain Helps Fill Santa's Sleigh With Toys
Santa Claus filled his sleigh with nearly 6,000 holiday
gifts for needy children as a result of Caltrain’s popular
holiday train.
Sponsored by Caltrain and the Golden Gate Railroad Museum,
the Trains for Tots Special carried Santa and his entourage
to nine train stations over the Dec. 3-4 weekend, where
thousands of people turned out to see the spectacularly
lighted train and to donate toys for needy Bay Area children.
During the station stops, kids got a chance to meet Santa
and to enjoy holiday music provided by a Salvation Army
band and an on-board chorus.
In conjunction with the Salvation Army and the U.S. Marine
Corps Reserve’s Toys for Tots programs, Trains for Tots
brought in a total of 5,770 toys and books, which were
donated by local families who came to see the train, and
a special large donation from Kohl’s department stores.
