Caltrain Kicks Off Baby Bullet Service with Senator Speier
What:
Caltrain will hold a "baby announcement" ceremony to welcome its much-anticipated Baby
Bullet express service. After the brief speeches, dignitaries and others in
attendance will board a Baby Bullet for an express ride to Millbrae and back.
When:
Friday, June 4, at 2 p.m.
(Entertainment begins at 1:15 p.m.)
Who:
Senator Jackie Speier (D-San Francisco/San Mateo) will be joined by Caltrain Chair
John McLemore and Metropolitan Transportation Commission Executive Director Steve
Heminger. Caltrain Vice Chair and San Mateo County Supervisor Mike Nevin will serve
as Master of Ceremonies.

Why:
Caltrain's Baby Bullet express service will zip passengers between San Jose and San
Francisco in 57 minutes, a savings of 39-minutes compared to travel via a local train.
Senator Speier, who had been looking for a project that could provide congestion
relief, secured $127 million through the state's Traffic Congestion Relief Program
four years ago to build Caltrain passing tracks and purchase six aerodynamic
locomotives and 17 low-floor passenger cars.
