Caltrain to introduce Muni Sticker
Caltrain customers who also commute on Muni have a bargain coming their way.
Beginning Jan. 1, Caltrain will sell a new, discounted Muni sticker, replacing the
Peninsula Pass, which was eliminated following a public hearing.
The goal of the new sticker program is to provide a better value to customers
transferring between the two systems. The stickers go on sale, along with Caltrain’s
monthly passes, Dec. 21 at a cost of $35, a $10 discount over the cost of a regular
Muni Fast Pass.
The Muni sticker will not be valid for use on any Muni cable car.
SamTrans and VTA allow customers presenting a two-zone or greater Caltrain Monthly
Pass a local fare credit on each agency’s transit services.
Caltrain is a tri-county partnership of San Francisco Municipal Railway, San Mateo
County Transit District and Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority. Caltrain
operates 86 weekday trains between San Francisco and San Jose, with commute-hour
service to Gilroy. A total of 62 trains offer service on weekends.
For fare information, please call 1.800.660.4287 or for the hearing-impaired (TDD
only) 650.508.6448.
