Caltrain Timetable Proposal Could Improve Gilroy Commute
Caltrain's proposed express timetable could significantly decrease travel time for
riders along the Gilroy extension. While the Baby Bullet express trains would begin
and end at the San Jose Diridon Caltrain Station, south county riders could make a
transfer at the Diridon station from a local to a Baby Bullet and shave more than an
hour per day off their commute if they ride all the way to San Francisco.
South county riders also may save time by transferring to a Baby Bullet if their
destination station is Mountain View, Palo Alto, Hillsdale or Millbrae.
Caltrain also is overhauling the rest of the timetable to speed travel. As part of
that effort Caltrain is proposing a new limited-stop service that would benefit Gilroy
riders as well. All of the Gilroy trains would operate as locals between Gilroy and
Tamien and become limited-stop trains at San Jose Diridon.
Caltrain is holding a public meeting in Gilroy to receive input on the overhaul of the
Caltrain weekday timetable and the reinstatement of weekend service between San
Francisco and San Jose.
The meeting will be held:
Nov. 4, 7:45 p.m.
Council Chambers
7351 Rosanna St.
Gilroy
In addition, Caltrain is holding public meetings in San Francisco, San Carlos, East
Palo Alto, Mountain View and San Jose beginning in October.
