Caltrain to Make Timetable Adjustments
Caltrain is holding a public meeting to discuss some minor
schedule (PDF, 21.4 KB) adjustments. The changes will
improve the train's overall travel time, making it faster to travel the rail corridor.
Changes to accommodate construction on the tracks owned by the Union Pacific Railroad
are also required beginning later this summer.
Aug. 25 - mid-October Changes
Caltrain also will be making a temporary timetable change as a result of track
construction in the San Jose area, where additional tracks are being installed.
Beginning Aug. 25, the work will require closure of the through track south of the
Tamien station, which will cause Trains 74 and 87 to use San Jose Diridon station as
their terminal instead of Tamien.
The construction impact is expected to last until mid-October.
Public Meeting Information
The meeting will be held Aug. 13 between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Caltrain's headquarters,
1250 San Carlos Ave. in San Carlos.
The proposed changes include:
- A few minutes will be reallocated among the South San Francisco, San Bruno and
Millbrae stations to better space out the travel time between stations.
- The travel times of up to 32 trains will be reduced by up to two minutes.
- Train 69 will stop at the College Park station, and College Park stops will be
eliminated for Trains 64, 75 and 85 because of extremely low ridership.
The proposed changes will take effect Sept. 22, when Caltrain introduces its new fare
structure and makes the move to a Proof-of-Payment system.
Passengers also can comment on the changes by calling 1.800.660.4287 (TDD only
650.508.6448) or by sending an e-mail to
timetablecomments@caltrain.com.
