Caltrain Centralized Equipment Maintenance and Operations Facility
Caltrain is building a new state-of-the-art maintenance
and operations facility on the site of the old Southern
Pacific rail yard at the end of Lenzen Avenue in San Jose.
Caltrain's existing rail maintenance facilities have
outlived their useful and efficient capabilities.
The new facility will accommodate many critical
activities including daily inspections, scheduled
maintenance, running repairs, train washing and storage.
CEMOF will consolidate Caltrain's existing maintenance
facilities and provide the capacity to complete additional
types of maintenance and improve the efficiency and quality
of Caltrain maintenance operations.
Construction on the facility began in the fall of 2004
and should be completed by fall 2007.
